About Gas Prices Live

Why We Built This

Gas Prices Live is an independent fuel price tracking tool built for everyday drivers, commuters, travelers, and anyone who wants a fast, no-clutter view of what gasoline costs across the United States today.

Most gas price data online is buried inside slow, ad-heavy websites that make you work to find a simple number. Gas Prices Live takes the opposite approach — one clean dashboard, all 50 states plus Washington D.C., with instant comparisons to yesterday, last week, last month, and last year. No sign-up required. No subscription. Just the data.

Our Data Source

All gas price data displayed on this site comes from AAA’s daily statewide fuel price averages, one of the most widely cited and consistently updated sources for U.S. retail gasoline prices. AAA collects price data from tens of thousands of stations across the country and publishes statewide regular gasoline averages each day.

These are statewide averages — they reflect broad regional pricing and may differ from the price at your nearest station. For hyperlocal prices at individual stations, apps like GasBuddy provide station-level data that complements what we track here.

How Updates Work

Data is refreshed daily through an automated process that pulls the latest AAA statewide averages each morning. No manual action is required for routine updates — prices reflect the most recently published AAA figures as of each day. Historical comparisons (yesterday, last week, last month, last year) are calculated from the same dataset.
